As the mother reads, the child leans back contentedly, basking in the joy of hearing her mother’s delightful storytelling. It’s a familiar scene for many people. Replace mum with dad in the picture. Not so familiar. It seems that in many households, activities such as reading to the kids, art projects and other gentler interests is the mother’s domain. Give the kid a ball and dad will be all over it. According to the UK’s leading charity Booktrust, only one in eight dads take the lead with reading to their brood....
