Beachgoers aren’t the only ones playing in the sand this summer. Sea turtles have been laying their eggs on the beaches of St. Johns County since the beginning of the sea turtle season on May 1. However, Beaches Sea Turtle Patrol Director Jennifer Burns said there has been a decrease in nests compared to what she saw this time last year.
